The Senior Accountant assumes a pivotal role within our accounting department, taking on increased responsibilities in financial accounting and reporting processes. With a focus on optimizing efficiency and accuracy, this position contributes to the development and implementation of accounting strategies and initiatives to support the company's growth trajectory.

Duties and Responsibilities include:
  • Drive process improvements and automation initiatives within the accounting function, leveraging technology to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Oversee revenue and accounts receivable. Experience with ASC 606 revenue recognition with a technology company considered an asset.
  • Oversee Accounts Payable and manage cashflow processes creating efficiency within the AP function including implementing a PO process, and payment automation.
  • Prepare biweekly cash flow reports to monitor cash on hand, project cash inflows and outflows and purpose transfers to address cash demands.
  • Coordinate month-end closing procedures, preparing complex journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals for various accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Analyze financial data and provide insights to stakeholders, identifying trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
  • Act as a key liaison during external audits, facilitating requests and providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Mentor and support junior members of the accounting team, providing guidance and fostering their professional development.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on special projects and initiatives, leveraging financial expertise to achieve organizational objectives.
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required; CPA designation is an asset.
Experience:
  • 3+ years of progressive experience in professional accounting roles.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, and experience with accounting software. Netsuite, Datarails, Shareworks, Float experience is an asset.
  • Knowledge of US GAAP principles preferred.
